My School Days

I was a student at Saint Paul's English High School , Karachi and finished School in 1990 . We follow the British Colonial System of education still in Pakistan (sigh, in 59 years of independece, we could not even device our own educational system). So after what the europeans and americans call as Grade 10 (which is called Class 10 or Matric in Pakistan) the school ends and then if one wants to study further, one has to go to the College (which is known as High School in America, infact americans and europeans even call University as "school", the British forgot to teach them the difference, I guess). Anyways so I spent many years in Saint Paul's, which is managed by the Christian Missionaries.  Before that I went to the Green Home Montessori and Little Folks School for the kindergarten education. Ok I think I went too far to get myself in the kindergarten shoes, so lets stay with the school life for now. Just one more interesting thing for those who think english as a language has it all, kindergarten is a german word.

School life ended in 1990 and since then its been a long time that I've met many of my school friends and class-fellows. Infact none now. Because after school everyone just spread up and I could only be in contact with those who were either with me in the College, NED or those who lived nearby. While the rest have just disappeared. Busy with their life (or wife) I guess, and hope they all are doing fine and enjoying happy times in life. Anyways if by any chance, a Paulian surfs this page or even if you ain't a Paulian, you must have been to school sometimes in your life too Smile so feel free to share how you spent your days at school and your school life experiences at the online discussion forum, which is a free for everyone discussion area.

School Teachers I Loved Most

If I was still in school, I guess I'd never had used these words for my teachers that I love them. eh ! rather I'd have said that "teachers I hate most" or something like that. But now I came to realize that it was the school and the teachers without whose help and affection we wouldn't be where we are now.  School plays an important role in the development of personal and intellectual skills. Its a personal observation that if one ain't had a good schooling or perhaps went to a good school but didn't tried to pay attention to the studies and other things which the teachers repeatedly try to teach, then after some years when you enter the practical life.  you just regret all those things you ignored. So if you're still in school, make the most of it pal. You will remember these days always. School life is the golden age, and once gone its like one of those dreams that never happens again.

Ok about my teachers, to name only a few of them. Sir Basheer (he died in 1996 ) , Sir Victor , Sir Layne , Rev. Father Malito Dias (he's also no more) , Mrs Gunsolves, Mrs Helen Peter , Miss Shah Sultana, Sir Jalal uddin Betaab (late) , R.K Malik , Sir Samuel , Sir Khawar , Mrs Ashraf , Sir Tara Chand and Ms. Fatima Fikree. Here's a group photo i scanned, of many of the teachers present. However the quality ain't that good as it was published in the annual school magazine.
